$1.46 million to support employment integration in Montréal

On September 9, the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister Responsible for the Mauricie region, Jean Boulet, announced an investment of $1,458,900 for the PME MTL network in 2019-2020.

The Minister made the announcement at the offices of PME MTL Ouest-de-l'Île, accompanied by Christopher Skeete, Member of Parliament for Sainte-Rose and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for Relations with English-Speaking Québecers, as well as Robert Beaudry, Head of Economic and Commercial Development, Housing and Design and Member of the Executive Committee of Ville de Montréal.

This investment comes under the heading of renewing job placement service agreements, in partnership with Services Québec. The funds will be used to assist PME MTL, a support network for Montréal businesses, in providing job placement services.

As a key player in supporting the start-up and growth of SMEs, it makes sense for us to offer a service that connects job seekers with Montréal companies seeking talent. By offering companies job recruitment support, we improve their chances of maintaining their activities and improving their results, while we also contribute to their vitality,

added Nicolas Roy, General Manager of PME MTL Ouest-de-l'Île.

With this partnership, nearly 1,700 job seekers will benefit from employment integration assistance. When their clients are ready to enter the labour market, Services Québec and local employment centres on the Island of Montréal will continue to refer them to PME MTL’s six service centres.

It is always a source of great pride to see our valued labour market partners mobilize to find solutions to a reality that exists throughout Québec: labour scarcity. The close collaboration between Services Québec de l'Île-de-Montréal and PME MTL enables job seekers, particularly in the English-speaking community, to be better prepared to enter the labour market. Thanks to their services and networks, many people will be able to find jobs and participate in Montréal's economic vitality

said Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity and Minister Responsible for the Mauricie region.

English-speaking Québecers make an important contribution to the economic development and prosperity of Québec society. They are an integral part of our society and their successes contribute to the advancement of all Québec society. I am very happy with my colleague's support

said Christopher Skeete, Member of Parliament for Sainte-Rose and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier for Relations with English-Speaking Québecers.

In 2018, through its job placement service, PME MTL put 1,654 job seekers in contact with 968 companies actively recruiting employees.

Since 2015, 7,937 people have participated in PME MTL’s integration activities, representing a government investment of $6,696,279. Its job placement service is offered by PME MTL throughout the Island of Montréal.
