Décarie Boulevard North Contest

PME MTL Centre-Ouest, in collaboration with the borough of Saint-Laurent and Quartier D, the Société de développement commercial du Boulevard Décarie Nord, is launching The Future is Here entrepreneurial contest.

This contest aims to revitalize the portion of Décarie Boulevard covered by Quartier D (orange zone), by encouraging the establishment of new businesses or the renovation of existing businesses by means of a grant, with a view to enhancing and diversifying the current commercial offer.

The Future is Here entrepreneurial contest is aimed primarily at entrepreneurs who wish to set up a retail business to serve local residents, students and workers.

Located in the eastern part of the borough of Saint-Laurent in an easily accessible area with high commercial traffic due to its proximity to the Côte-Vertu and Du Collège metro stations as well as the Saint-Laurent and Vanier CEGEPs, close to the historical neighbourhood of Vieux Saint-Laurent, Décarie Boulevard North is home to 300 places of business in a pleasant, spacious and green environment.

About 15 vacant premises are currently available for setting up new businesses.

Registration period

You application must be submitted by December 31, 2019.

Important dates

December 31, 2019: End of the registration period
January 2020: Selection of candidates
Late January 2020: Official announcement of the winners

Grants offered

An amount of $60,000 will be divided up and distributed in the form of grants to the winning entrepreneurs who will be chosen to set up shop on Décarie Boulevard in 2020. The amount of each grant will be determined according to the nature, size and needs of the business project, up to a maximum of $25,000 per project.

PME MTL Centre-Ouest is committed to assisting all the candidates who apply. Specific support will be given to the winners.

Eligibility conditions

• Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
• Present a business project aimed at establishing or renovating a local retail business: boutique, restaurant, bar, café and all businesses with a NAICS code beginning with 44, 45 and 722. The grant is not available for service businesses (unlimited examples: nail shop, hairdresser, doctor, professional services...).
• Want to set up in one of the vacant premises available within the boundaries of the contest area or convered or renovate your premises if your business is already located in the area covered by Quartier D.
• Plan to open your shop or business establishment by summer 2020.
• Be a sole proprietorship, corporation, cooperative or non-profit organization (NPO).
• Demonstrate the financial viability of your project.
• Agree to meet with a jury.
• Submit all the required documents before the contest deadline, no later than December 31, 2019.

Required documents

• Completed “Application – New Business (French only)” or “Application – Renovation of Existing Business (French only)"
• Financial projections for your business’s first two years of operation
  (you can use our online model entitled “Cash Budget”)
• The résumés of the entrepreneur(s)

Grant conditions

When the winners are announced, an agreement will be signed between the developer and PME MTL Centre-Ouest for the awarding of each grant.
