Meet the Angels: Bobbi Bidochka

After nearly a decade of building relationships across academia, industry, startups, and investment networks, Bobbi Bidochka has developed a talent for bringing the right people and ideas together. How does she do it? It starts off with a great conversation. 

Today, as Venture Alchemist at Mila Ventures, she works at the intersection of research and entrepreneurship, identifying exceptional founders and technical talent with the potential to build the next generation of science-backed AI companies. 

Based at Mila, at the heart of Montreal’s artificial intelligence ecosystem, Bobbi helps bridge the gap between academic research and entrepreneurship. Her focus is on finding the people who can turn promising ideas and scientific breakthroughs into viable companies. 

For Bobbi, that process always comes back to people and relationships. 

Her network has grown over the years through trust, curiosity, and a genuine interest in the people behind the ideas. Whether she is speaking with a researcher, entrepreneur, investor, or potential collaborator, she is always looking for connections that can create new opportunities. 

That same approach shapes her work as an investor. 

As a member of Anges de l’Ouest, Bobbi brings experience in venture creation, ecosystem building, and talent identification to the West Island’s growing community of angel investors. Her investment experience also includes The51 Feminist Fund and &OR Collective, a Canadian fashion company combining design with technical knitting. 

Her career reflects the multidisciplinary perspective she brings to her work. Bobbi holds a BA in Political Science from McGill University, a Master’s in Sociology from the University of Ottawa, and an MIT certification in Business and Impact Planning for Social Enterprises. 

She also serves as an advisor to the McGill Innovation Fund and HisTurn Fertility and sits on an editorial board with Taylor & Francis Group. 

Across these roles, one theme remains constant: helping promising people and ideas move forward.
