Retail Relocation Program
The Retail Relocation Program aims to provide concrete support to businesses that must leave their current premises by facilitating their relocation within the territory, in order to preserve their operations and strengthen local economic and commercial vitality.
Financial Assistance
To support relocation efforts, the program offers a combination of grants and financing tailored to the needs of businesses:
Commercial Entrepreneurship Fund (FEC)
A grant of $5,000 may be awarded to help cover relocation-related costs. This assistance may be provided on its own or combined with additional financing.
Local Economic Development Fund (Commercial component)
An interest-free loan may also be available, with financing tailored to the specific needs and scale of the project.
Personalized Support
The program includes tailored guidance from our team of business development advisors. Businesses receive hands-on support throughout every stage of the relocation process, including strategic planning, selection and positioning of the new premises, and maintaining business continuity during the transition.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the program, businesses must meet the following requirements:
- Meet the eligibility criteria and exclusions applicable to PME MTL’s regular programs;
- Not be in bankruptcy or insolvency proceedings;
- Demonstrate profitability over the past two (or three) fiscal years;
- Submit a relocation plan that includes:
- a customer retention and loyalty strategy;
- planned communication and outreach initiatives;
- a rationale for the selected new premises (location, foot traffic, market fit, etc.).
