Anges de l’Ouest Hosts Its First Investor Day, Strengthening the Future of West Island Entrepreneurship

Topic: Financing Innovation Local development

PME MTL Ouest-de-l'Île 25 June 2026

A new chapter in West Island entrepreneurship was written this month as the Anges de l’Ouest Club successfully hosted its first-ever Investor Day.

What began as a vision to build a local community of angel investors has now become a reality. The event brought together entrepreneurs, investors, and ecosystem leaders around a common goal: helping promising West Island businesses access the capital, expertise, and connections they need to grow.

Behind this milestone lies months of dedicated work. Since the launch of ANges de l’Ouest, PME MTL Ouest-de-l’Île project managers Jon Druker and Noah Redler have worked extensively to recruit and support both entrepreneurs and investors throughout the process. This included identifying and onboarding potential angel investors, organizing educational sessions, reviewing investment opportunities, coaching entrepreneurs, refining business plans, and preparing companies to confidently present their projects. Their efforts helped create a structured and professional environment designed to maximize value for everyone involved and lay the foundation for a sustainable local investment ecosystem.

The result was an inspiring day of entrepreneurship, innovation, and meaningful conversations.

Eight companies were selected to present their projects:

Each company had the opportunity to present its vision, demonstrate its progress, and answer questions from a panel of local angel investors representing a diverse range of professional, entrepreneurial, and industry experience.

We would like to recognize the investors who participated in this first Investor Day: Frank Dias, Paul Vander Plaetse, Christian Bassila, Nick Vouloumanos, Bobbi Bidochka et Pierre Bourdage

Their engagement throughout the day highlighted one of the greatest strengths of angel investing: entrepreneurs gain far more than access to capital. They gain access to experienced business leaders who can challenge ideas, share perspectives, open doors, and help accelerate growth.

The launch of this first Investor Day is an important milestone not only for Anges de l’Ouest, but for the West Island business community as a whole. By creating direct connections between local investors and local entrepreneurs, the initiative is helping to build a stronger and more resilient innovation ecosystem - one where talent, ambition, and investment can remain rooted in the community.

While the due diligence process now continues and investment decisions remain in the hands of participating investors, the event has already achieved something significant. It demonstrated that the West Island is home to both ambitious entrepreneurs and engaged investors, and that bringing the two together can create meaningful opportunities for growth, innovation, and long-term economic development.

A special thank you to National Bank of Canada for supporting this initiative and helping make this milestone possible. We would also like to recognize the contribution of the full PME MTL Ouest-de-l’Île team, the Board of Directors, and many West Island leaders who have supported Anges de l’Ouest since its inception.

This first Investor Day is only the beginning. As the Anges de l’Ouest community continues to grow, so too will the opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors to connect, collaborate, and build the next generation of successful West Island businesses.
